The grand 12th Convergence India 2004, an international telecommunication exhibition of paramount importance in India and South Asia, took place from 18th to 20th Mar in New Delhi, India, attracting over 270 telecom equipment manufacturers and operators from 23 countries. ZTE Corporation, China´s largest listed telecom equipment manufacturer and network solution provider, participated in the event as a Diamond Sponsor, with the theme of "Global Solutions, Local services", and caught eyes of the global operators. 

With the stand occupying an area of 255 square meters, ZTE exhibited a vast string of its CDMA2000 1x solutions and optical transmission solutions, as much, presented the cutting-edge technologies and customized solutions in the fields like GSM, UMTS, Softswitch, DSL, fixed SMS platform, switch, access and handset terminals. ZTE also demonstrated its GoTa digital trunking services based on CDMA technologies, optical transmission network, ADSL broadband online services as well as the latest intelligent network services and fixed SMS services. ZTE´s powerful R&D strengths and great capability of providing customers with end-to-end network solutions are fully presented.

In recent years, India has maintained a sustained high economic growth rate, and its telecom industry has been in a crucial stage with huge potential development. Most experts and analysts agree that India´s telecommunication equipment has achieved a 20% increase in the past four years, and predict that the figure will be up to 40% in the forthcoming years. India, one of ZTE´s strategic markets, is developing very fast.

In 2001, ZTE Corporation entered the market of India. In July 2002, ZTE Corporation was awarded the contract to construct the country´s national transmission backbone network, supplying DWDM devices to more than 40 states, which indicates that ZTE has strong capability to provide large developing countries like India with advanced communication equipment. In the same year, ZTE Corporation signed the agreement in Bangalore with BSNL, the largest state-owned operator in India. Under the agreement, ZTE Corporation should provide a full set of solution for the national CDMA WLL network covering 9 major provinces in India, including Bombay, the country´s largest City and Bangalore, known for "India´s silicon valley". It is the first time that China´s CDMA products achieved large-scale applications in India.

A press conference organized by the exhibition committee was held on 17th March in Le Meridien Hotel. Ms Fang Rong, Vice President of  ZTE Corporation, delivered a speech. "The 12th Convergence India 2004, as an international telecommunication exhibition, offers India Telecom Industry and ZTE excellent opportunity to communicate and exchange ideas and experience. In the past several years, ZTE has maintained a sustained compound growth rate and achieved great breakthroughs in the overseas markets in the fields like CDMA, GSM, DSL, and optical transmission. ZTE has always been and will ever be actively participating in the network construction in India." Said Ms Fang Rong.

To fully fulfill the increasing demands, ZTE Corporation has established several offices in New Delhi and Bombay as well as an engineering center in Bangalore.
