Madrid hosts some of the world´s leading telecommunication technologies today when ZTE Corporation, China´s largest telecommunications manufacturer and wireless solutions provider, visits Spain during its first pan-European roadshow.

Visitors to the Olivar de la Hinojosa Golf Club on June 16 are able to see first-hand, and for the first time, ZTE´s advanced technology and solutions for the 3G era, including the Corporation´s industry-leading UMTS V3 system, Next Generation Network (NGN) and a innovative convergence of fixed-line and mobile 3G solutions.

"Spain is geographically and economically important to ZTE due to the fact that it contains some of the most important global players with a very advanced, mature market open to new technologies," said Madrid-based Evan Ai Xiyuan, general manager of ZTE Spain office. 

"We have established a strong team with considerable local talent and have studied the trends and the needs of this market. The solutions we show here is dedicated to helping the operators lower their CAPEX and OPEX and increase their ROI. For example, the world´s most integrated UMTS Node-B we offer can efficiently lower the construction cost for UMTS operators. And the ZTE fixed-line 3G solution, which covers all components of modern telecom network, like the terminal, access, IP, Home Gateway, Softswitch (IMS), Triple Play etc, can help fixed line operators increase their competitive edge in the market.

ZTE has established 15 offices in Europe and has already made significant steps into the European market in 2005. In March, ZTE announced that it is to become a global supplier of ADSL equipment to France Telecom. In February, ZTE announced an agreement with Alcatel that will see ZTE´s CDMA radio access portfolio integrated into Alcatel´s CDMA end-to-end solutions. In January, ZTE signed a research and development Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Portugal Telecom and won a contract to supply Skylink, Russia´s largest CDMA operator, with an advanced CDMA network for Murmansk.

The 3G Road show has already visited Turkey, Greece, Romania, Hungary and Czech Republic. Additionally, there are plans to bring the 3G Road show to Germany, France and UK in the next two months. 

"Our strategy in Europe is totally focussed on localisation: we will work more closely with local partners, recruit more local employees and set up regional centres for maintenance and R&D," added Cheng Lin, general manager of Western Europe.
